Discover OPTEX SMDA logic and its contribution to highly reliable detection.

By Hommax

Increasing burglary rates in Europe are of growing concern to homeowners and Optex offers a solution to this problem.

The Balance de Criminalidad de las Fuerzas y Cuerpos de Seguridad del Estado states that in Spain there were more than 75,000 home burglaries in 2022. This has led to an increase in the use of alarm systems and intrusion panels with motion detection sensors, with the aim of protecting the home against intrusions.

However, in many cases the warnings received are errors due to pets or weather factors. This results in a waste of resources, an impact on the costs of the security system and a feeling of insecurity for the user. For all these reasons, it is important to have a system that offers reliability and adapts to the conditions of the space to be protected.

Every home has its own particularities in terms of detection, be it open areas, access to the home or climatic factors. This makes each home different and, in some cases, increases the complexity of the scenario to be protected.

What solution does OPTEX offer to cover so many detection variables and also offer a highly reliable sensor?

Lógica SMDA (Análisis Supermultidimensional)

SMDA Logic is an OPTEX exclusive specification that customises each sensor by anticipating the five most common variables in a digital template. These variables are: direct sunlight, temperature and weather changes, intruder movement, vegetation and insect movement, and pet movement. The digitisation of these variables in the template reduces false alarms and makes the sensor focus on the real dangers. This concept is defined as ‘Single template detection in customised environments’.

Each sensor is designed to operate in unique applications and working environments. By digitising the different scenarios the sensor learns and records these scenarios in memory, this makes the sensor more effective and quicker at identifying whether it is a real hazard or not.

What does it mean that each sensor has a pre-loaded digital template?

It means that each sensor is designed for a specific purpose and its performance will stand out if it is in the scenario for which it was designed. This categorisation of the sensor makes it highly efficient as the scenario it is exposed to is as expected and all possible variables have already been taken into account reducing false alarms and detection failures.

Intrusion event anticipation and categorisation

Anticipation of possible detection scenarios allows the sensor to respond quickly and effectively. Every possible event does not have to be fully processed, simply by identifying one of the preloaded templates the sensor immediately ignores this analysis and classifies it as a false event (false alarm) or in the opposite case as a genuine event. For other sensors on the market, mostly analogue, this analysis is always necessary, leaving a high degree of uncertainty for the variables.

The fact of anticipating and identifying by experience what is or is not an alarm by means of digital templates is a factor offered by Optex sensors, guaranteeing high efficiency and quality in alarm detection and confirming its commitment to society as a leading company in the security sector.

Hommax offers a wide range of Optex products including many sensors with SMDA logic.

- The WXI and WXS series are ideal for creating detection areas at a 180 degree angle, such as the entrance to the home.

- The VXI and VXS models can detect 90-degree angles, perfect for corner areas.

- The QXI series offer more flexibility, as they can be installed at heights of up to 2.7 metres.

- The BXS series with curtain detection is perfect for protecting facades.

- The FlipX Advanced series makes it really effective in areas such as pet tolerance.
