Advanced Parking Solutions with Hikvision: Control, Security and Efficiency

Hikvision has developed a set of specific solutions to optimise parking management. From vehicle access to real-time monitoring of parking space occupancy, these technologies automate and improve operations in different environments.
On 24 January, we got to know all the solutions in detail in a webinar led by our product manager Mariano Giorgi and Pablo Campos, pre-sales engineer at Hikvision. Below, we tell you about the most interesting new features that we discovered in the session:
1. Entry and Exit Control with License Plate Recognition
LPR (License Plate Recognition) cameras allow the reading of vehicle number plates to manage access. Among its main features, the following stand out:
- Automatic registration of entrances and exits.
- Real-time capacity control.
- Configurable alarms to detect vehicles parked for longer than permitted.
- Black and white lists to manage restricted access.
- Integration with automatic barriers and information screens.
- Centralised administration through HikCentral Professional.
2. Guidance System for Indoor Car Parks
To improve the user experience and the efficiency of parking space occupancy, Hikvision offers an advanced guidance system, based on:
- Smart cameras with occupancy detection of up to six spaces per device.
- LED indicators for quick display of available (green) and occupied (red) spaces.
- Colour customisation for reserved spaces (blue for disabled, yellow for employees, etc.).
- Integration with intercom and access control.
- Capacity to read number plates in each parking space to improve security and facilitate the search for vehicles.
3. Solutions for outdoor car parks
For outdoor car parks, Hikvision offers different solutions based on high-precision cameras:
- Overhead cameras capable of detecting the occupancy of up to 40 parking spaces simultaneously.
- Low height number plate reading mode, allowing the detection of up to 4 parking spaces.
- Integration with solar energy for unattended car parks or car parks without electrical infrastructure.
- Real-time monitoring of free and occupied spaces using HikCentral software.
4. Other innovative solutions that continue to evolve:
- Temperature detection in charging stations for electric vehicles, helping to prevent overheating and reduce risks.
- Integration with video surveillance and facial recognition systems that allow for more accurate monitoring of the environment.
- Anti-drop and presence radars, which help to prevent accidents at access barriers, thus improving safety at every point in the car park.
All these solutions are managed through the HikCentral platform, which allows full control of the car park. Operators can monitor live images and access recordings in case of incidents, remotely manage barriers and access, as well as generate detailed reports on parking occupancy and usage patterns. In addition, the platform features Find My Car functionality, which allows users to locate their vehicle by entering the number plate number.
It is also possible to set different levels of access, adapted to management, operators and attendants, to ensure efficient and secure parking administration. In short, Hikvision's parking management solutions offer a modular and scalable approach, adapting to different environments such as residential communities, shopping centres, airports and public or private car parks.
