Hikvision H.264+ saves bandwidth and space
Hikivison has developed a new algorithm called H.264+ due to the high resolution of current IP cameras of the market that require carrying and storing a high bandwidth level. This algorithm compresses efficiently the images to be transmitted across the network , saving up between 50% and 90% of the bandwidth required by current H.264+ systems, and allowing a better performance of the hard disks and saving space at the same time.

Advantages of Hikvision technology
H.264+ Hikvision technology is a type of intelligent algorithm that optimizes the image management based on H.264+/AVC. The main advantages of H.264+ are:

The traditional H.264+ compression systems used to base its efficacy on a differential encoding in which a frame was compared to another which was taken as a reference (frame I or P before), and they just encoded the pixels that changed in comparison to the frame taken as a reference.
Logically, the frame I is the one that has completed image’s information and P frames are predictive – they are based on another I and P frames. I frames are heavier as they have all the information about the reference image and their sampling frequency can be set up from the CCTV camera. I frames get active in the encoding chain every few seconds and because of that they take up a high percentage of the encoding’s weight even when the images are static and the I frame is not different from the one taken before.
This traditional compression system is not entirely useful with the high resolutions we are working with nowadays. Therefore, it is very important to take this into account and make a good assessment of the product you are going to buy for an installation of a security CCTV. Offers such as ‘Buy 3 and pay 2’ are often misleading advertising not only as regards to the compression algorithm, but also to the reduced inputs of bandwidth that allow NVR associated, so they cause jam input and poor quality and fluency in the image.
In order to reduce repetitive data rate, Hikvision H.264+ has developed a relationship between predictive coding (P-frame) and reference coding (I-frame) that generates a new fresh image based on the background image which will substitute the reference image (I-frame) on shorter spaces. Thus the I-frame is more spread in time and allows a very important optimization of the bit’s rate.
The H.264 + allows a reduction of the bit rate as well by suppressing noise. In video surveillance environments, in order to ensure the quality of the objects in the image, the system encodes the surrounding noise. Also, with the new H.264 + algorithm we can apply greater compression to the bottom of the image by removing noise and keeping images of objects with less compression. This process also allows an appreciable reduction of the bits’ rate.
As a result, thanks to Hikvision we can get a 50 % to 60 % reduction of the bit rates during the day, reaching up to 90% at night when there is less or no movement.
